Most art is hung too high. Center the piece at 57–60 inches from the floor (eye level), use a laser level, and choose the anchor by weight and wall type.
Height
Center of artwork at 57–60 inches above the floor. Above furniture, leave 6–10 inches of clearance from the top of the piece below.
Anchors
Under 20 lbs in drywall: a single picture hook. 20–50 lbs: toggle bolts or stud-mounted. Over 50 lbs: French cleat on studs.
Tools
Laser level, stud finder, painter's tape for layout, a real drill — not a hammer for anchors.
